Every now and again, it makes sense to stick your head up above the craziness of each day and make sure that your current direction is leading you somewhere you want to go.
Maybe you’ll see you’re headed in the right direction, maybe you’ll discover you need to course correct.
For folks like me, who seem to achieve success by bumping into a lot of different things over time, this constant course correction is a valuable thing.
When you work with clients, it’s kind of assumed you’re performing a service. But that’s not always correct. There’s no reason you can’t turn your custom “service” into something that looks more like a product.
Depending on what you’re trying to build, “productizing” saves you time, allows you to scale more effectively with less work and a bunch of other benefits.
No matter which way you go, however, I’m guessing that you don’t want your business running your life.
So here’s a question to ask yourself when it comes to the exact model you’ve chosen for your business:
Does a large increase in “success” make an unacceptable impact on your lifestyle?
In other words, if the prospects, clients and sales double or more, do you go nuts?
If the answer is a clear YES, you might want to stick your head up for a while and make sure that’s where you want to go.
