The Beat of the Drum

In this next issue of the Field Report, out in a day or three, one of the Incomparable Experts I’ll be featuring happens to be exactly 11 years old.

If you’ve ever wanted motivation to achieve, this person will give it to you. Because if SHE can do it, you can do it. She’s going out there and building her business in a big way.

That said, the most important thing to remember on this journey we’re all on is that only YOU can direct your ship.

All the stories in the world of successful people, wealthy people, powerful people, well-connected people don’t mean a THING if that’s not where you want to go.

Maybe you want to sit on a rock and watch the birds Monday through Thursday and then generate enough revenue to do everything you want on Fridays.

If that’s what you want, then so be it.

Just don’t go looking for anyone to approve. They probably won’t. Because people who are content tend to make others uncomfortable.

But it doesn’t change the fact that you set the path. And your decision isn’t up for negotiation. I’m sure you’ll find plenty of people who will be happy to share their opinion with you. And while I’d recommend you be polite (why not?), I’d also recommend you learn to shut your ears.

You’re not here to beat someone else’s drum. Only your own beat matters.

If you currently aren’t able to hear the beat of your own drum, maybe it’s only because you’ve been trained to listen to others at the expense of your own.
