How I Write Emails

The current issue of Selling YOU is hitting mailboxes as we speak. It’s about an approach to business building that pretty much takes the need for direct selling off the table.

The NEXT issue is about email. Specifically, my approach to writing emails like this one you’re reading now.

I’ve coached a fair amount of people about this over the years. Most people view copywriting as something you have to learn. There are rules that you follow and, if you get good enough, people will respond.

I think this is a great way to sell copywriting courses but otherwise kind of bass ackwards as an approach.

The world doesn’t need any more “copywriters” not willing to actually SAY anything.

You need to have something to say. That’s priority number 1.

Next, you need to have someone to speak with. That’s priority number 2.

Next, you need to care about the person you’re speaking with and truly understand that being. That’s priority number 3.

Finally, you need to know how to structure and present what you have to say in a WAY that impacts the lives of your readers.

I can’t give you the something to say. Everyone already has that. Most are afraid to say it. Some are so scared they don’t even know what it is.

I CAN help you discover what it is. If you’re not sure yet. But you’ve got to bring the courage to actually say it.

So that’s what we’ll be diving into. If you’ve been reading these emails for any length of time, feel yourself IMPACTED by them, and want my perspective on creating something like this in YOUR work, then hop onboard.
