There’s a lot to be afraid of out there in the big bad world of business and life.
You can be scared of failing.
You can be scared of looking stupid.
You can be scared of losing “everything” and having to start over.
You can be scared of doing something wrong and being called out or punished.
You can be scared of actually putting yourself out there and giving it your all and having people laugh at you. Ouch!
We’re not supposed to think too deeply about fear, we’re just supposed to feel it and be scared by it. BOO!
Turn on the TV… FEAR.
Read the paper… FEAR.
Turn on the interwebs… FEAR.
And of course, there are plenty of centuries old institutions that are in the fear business. Heck, if you don’t have a conscience, I guess it’s a good business!
“Do this or bad things will happen.”
“DON’T do this or even WORSE things will happen. You might even burn up!”
All kidding aside, there’s a unique characteristic of fear that didn’t occur to me until far too recently to admit publicly:
Fear literally doesn’t exist until you create it.
The system wants you to feel small, inconsequential and impotent. And yet, for the person who is paying attention, the way the system goes about it provides irrefutable PROOF of just how powerful you actually are.
Fear is supposed to make you feel powerless. Except the creation of that fear, a creation of your own DOING, is proof of what is a rather impressive display of your power.
The system actually uses your own power against you.
What a diabolical little plan.
The good news is that you can dismantle your fear factory at any time. It takes an enormous amount of energy to run that factory and it’s energy that you could otherwise be using to create a better world.
Once again, you create your reality. And realities only come in two flavors.
LOVE or fear.
You get to choose.
