Business really shouldn’t be so complicated. You’ve got people with problems. You’ve got people with solutions. People with problems want solutions and people with solutions would love to find people with problems.

So why is it so challenging then to connect these two groups?

Well, I could say that’s just the way it is, but that’s hardly an empowering thought. And it’s only the “way it is” because human beings like you and me did things to have it be this way.

If we made it like this, we can UNMAKE it.

So what’s the problem?

I’ll give you my idea. My idea is that at some point, the providers of solutions flipped over into the mindset of getting instead of giving.

“How can we get what we want? And now that we’re getting what we want, how can we get even more of it…more easily?” A few too many solution providers gave these ideas a little too much of their attention until other solution providers started to notice what was going on.

Some time passes and the general level of business thought deteriorates until it hits rock bottom where we are now.

That’s where most of the mental power of a solution provider is focused on thoughts like:

“How do we get X to buy Y?”

Sheeple being sheeple, once a few of the solution providers started acting this way, the other sheeple fell in line and started behaving the same way. The feeling of lack grew to such a frenzy that it started to scare the poor people with problems to death.

They started to feel like they were being pursued. They started to see clues that they were nothing but numbers and dollar signs to the solution providers.

So they built walls. They started lying about their true intentions. “No, I don’t need help…I’m just looking around the store. Thanks.”

Then they started ignoring the approaching solution providers. They started doing whatever was necessary to keep the vultures away.

So that’s where we’re at. That’s why “marketing” doesn’t work as well as it used to. That’s why skepticism is at an all time high. That’s why your entire marketplace is ignoring what you say in favor of looking for clues communicated by what you DO.

There’s you. There’s them. And there’s a BIG wall right in between. Merry Christmas!

Show the people with problems there’s no reason to fear you.

Show the people with problems you actually DO put them first.

Show the people with problems you understand them at a deeper level than others do.

Show the people with problems that you can lead them to a solution.

You don’t need whizbang copywriting, or a silver bullet strategy plan, or the newest course, or fancy consulting or even the latest and greatest software.

You need to lead with your heart, focus it with your brain and start serving people more and better tomorrow than you are today.
