Resetting the Thermostat

Every so often, I have to make a concerted effort to reset the thermostat I use to make decisions in my business.

Over time, the thermostat seems to shrink down around whatever is going on in my life.

Let’s say I set an income goal to reach in my business. I work backwards to figure out what activities have to happen for me to reach that goal.

Then I get to work…

But then I start dealing with clients and the ups, downs and unexpected events that always show up.

Pretty soon, the focus on my goal becomes a little bit blurred.

I lose track of the level I set my “success thermostat” at when I got started.

Soon, I start focusing on the things right in front of me. “I have to get those things done,” I say.

Getting things done becomes the new “thermostat” setting.

Talk about setting yourself up to lose.

And that’s exactly what happens. I LOSE. My clients LOSE. My business LOSES. My family LOSES. All parties involved lose because I play small.

What was a roadmap to success becomes a wild goose chase through a murky swamp.

At that point, you have to reset your “success thermostat…” and fast.

You reset your thermostat by reminding yourself to play BIG. And the simplest way to do that is to remember exactly what it is that you do better than anyone.

If you’re not sure exactly what that is, then you’re at a distinct disadvantage.

Fix that today:

P.S. I’m still working through a slight backlog of these with clients. But the results are worth the wait, so come on and get in line.
