You know that story of the fly that finds himself stuck in a small room?
He SEES the window on the other side of the room, and exerts a ton of effort towards trying to bust through that window and get out of the room.
Sadly, the window doesn’t budge. But this fly is a resilient bugger (pun intended) and so the longer this goes on, the higher his conviction becomes.
He’s gonna get out or die trying.
All this time, he doesn’t realize there’s an open door right behind him. RIGHT BEHIND!
Poor, poor fly.
Now I’m not calling you a fly here, but I do think we service providers fall into a similar trap.
When you’re in the client business, it’s REALLY easy to forget that all your income DOESN’T have to come from client work.
In fact, it probably shouldn’t. Not if you want to maintain your sanity.
There’s not a whole lot of leverage there. Not as much as there could be.
Think about the income you generated from your last client project. Now can you imagine generating that same amount WITHOUT actually doing that work?
Imagine it, because it’s possible.
I’ve been hopelessly addicted to selling things online ever since I got that first taste of the “drug” back around 2002 some time.
To me, supporting yourself with your ideas and doing it in a leveraged way where you can help 1,000,000 people just as easily as 10… well, it’s just magic.
Start thinking about how you could do this. How can you “package up” what you know or what you can do and turn it into a new income stream?
You don’t need answers right now, just ask yourself the question.
