My First Terrible Website

The first website I ever designed for a client was to sell a program that helped people pay off their mortgages early.

Essentially, you just made an extra payment here and there and, poof, your mortgage got paid off years early with a savings of thousands of dollars in interest.

The year was probably 1998. I recall that, on the home page, I had a big LOGO and then 5-7 links underneath that.

At that point in my career, I was in ZERO danger of selling anything to anyone with that website. No chance at ALL.

But here we sit 15 years later (15 years!) and things have changed quite a bit.

Thanks to a few VERY hot months pounding the pavement on the car lot in Scottsdale AZ, plus a lot of reading and a TON of mistakes, I finally learned to sell stuff. Really, I learned to love it.

And when you sell something you love and something you believe in, it’s even better. This, of course, is why it’s so important to do the work required to LOVE yourself and accept yourself.

That’s not mushy talk (as if there’s something wrong with that), it’s completely practical for our business.

Your success will increase in correlation with the confidence and love you have in your product (YOU).

Because if YOU wouldn’t “buy you,” no one else is going to want you either!

But even if you’ve gotten all of that taken care of and you KNOW you’re great at what you do, you still have to get the message out there.

A website works for this, provided you get the right “kind” of website. Hire a tech expert and you’re going to get something that works and can do neat things.

You won’t necessarily get something that sells you, however. SELLING and/or MARKETING isn’t exactly something a lot of tech people are interested in.

Today is the first day we’re accepting clients for Service Websites That SELL! It’s a new “done for you” website service for independent professionals that builds you a website (or fixes the one you have) designed by marketing experts AND technology experts.

You get a site that is strategically engineered to help you attract prospects and clients.

This ENDS the nightmare of having to navigate the internet puzzle and waste your time trying to figure it all out.
