Little Hinges

If you’ve never heard of W. Clement Stone, you have some research to do.

Starting in 1919, he began with nothing and built up his Combined Insurance Company of America into something huge; with over a billion dollars in assets. He gave away upwards of $275 million to causes he supported.

One of his famous quotes is this one:

“Big doors swing on little hinges.”

You can interpret that sentence in a lot of different ways.

The lesson I see is that you shouldn’t pass by a little hinge just because it’s little. I did that for a long time. All you ever hear about are the big hinge stories. You hear about the guys that made $8 trillion in 2 minutes or sold a 1,000 of something in .5 seconds. Those are great stories, but the odds are not good that you will be one of them.

The “small hinge” is the secret that powers the platform model of client attraction. Your media platform is a very small hinge.

But it’s attached to a very large door. So that’s why this hinge gets my attention every day. I have a single goal each day: I wake up, I sit down, I write something helpful. That’s it.

I achieve the goal every single day of the work week.

It’s a tiny hinge on a VERY big door. Over time, momentum grows. The door starts to swing.

Not only does this little hinge swing big doors, it swings ALL the doors.

Want something that works? Start focusing on little hinges.

P.S. I just opened up a few days between now and the end of the year for private consulting days here in Sedona. Details are here.
