I had a prospective client call me once asking if I could help him out because I was a copywriter.
As the discussion unfolded, it was clear he wanted a “copyrighter,” not a copywriter.
He wanted someone to help “copyright” his book. I’m not exactly sure what he even meant. But I knew I wasn’t the guy for the job. That’s not the type of copywriting I do.
I do thank my lucky stars that the world of copywriting found me all those years ago. Being the psychologically unemployable, “rebellious to a fault” type of subversive individual I tend to be in a corporate environment, I didn’t really have a future there. So I had to go out on my own. Luckily, I found something valuable to offer the world: copywriting.
It’s a world most people don’t even know exists, even though they are affected by it almost every day. The power to communicate and persuade in print is one of the most powerful forms of leverage you can get.
Imagine, writing a single salesletter that does the work of 4,000 successful salespeople. You can see why it’s such an attractive, valuable and in demand skill.
Ray Edwards is currently in the process of launching his new Copywriting Academy, which is focused on helping you write great copy. Now I’ve known Ray for years, ever since I met him at a seminar in sunny Spokane, Washington. (I’m joking about the sunny part.) And not too long ago, he was gracious enough to sit down with me to answer some questions. (Listen to that interview if you need to upgrade your understanding of the value you provide…).
Over the past few days, Ray has made available a suite of free and excellent copywriting training videos.
I’m not compensated for recommending this, although if Ray happened to start an internet rumor about what a great guy Jason is, I’d take it! Ha!
What you’ll learn about copywriting in his free training is head and shoulders above many people’s paid offerings. Don’t miss video #2 and make sure to get the Copywriting Blueprint download from video #3.
At the core of what we’re trying to do everyday is connect a message with a market in the right way. When that happens, you get something magical. And copywriting is one of the most effective ways to do that.
