When you’re negotiating, the greatest power is held by the party who is willing to walk away from the deal.
But this isn’t just a negotiating strategy, this is a way of being you can adopt. It can become your DEFAULT position.
No client is a must have. No customer is a must have. No prospect is a must have.
EVERYONE comes and goes. Some go sooner, some go later.
So you can release that emotional pressure valve you put on yourself when you’re trying to do everything in your power to “keep” that client/customer or to “get” that client/customer.
Always be willing to walk away at every step of the journey.
It’s the position you take with prospects. It’s the position you take with clients. You do it with zero attitude.
It’s not that you’re holding this over anyone’s head. That’s a move that betrays insecurity and fear. The strong way to express this is by carrying with you the feeling that you truly DON’T need any particular thing to happen. You can make it from anywhere. You can respond to anything.
Want nothing, pursue nothing, chase nothing.
And at the same time you’re doing THAT:
Become enormously valuable to far more people than you could ever serve.
You know what happens if you do those two things WELL, at the very same TIME?
You create attraction from NOTHING.
You didn’t ask for it.
You didn’t convince anyone about it.
You didn’t force anyone to do it.
You created it yourself.
