RE: Common sense value

During an Incomparable Expert Transformation™ consultation yesterday, an important topic for service providers came up that I want to highlight today.

The gist of the topic is this:

You’ve most likely forgotten more about your area of expertise than many of the folks you attract as clients will ever know.

The reason you don’t want to forget this is extremely practical.

As an “expert,” it’s easy to make yourself feel inadequate when you completely lose touch with just how far you’ve come.

You are so advanced in your area of expertise that your current level of achievement just seems normal. In fact, maybe it even seems like you’re struggling.

To advance your own development, you stay on the “bleeding edge.” So it can feel like you’re just struggling to make it through.

But when you compare yourself to your average client, you’re an expert. That’s why they hire you, remember?

It just doesn’t feel that way to us.

And that’s why we don’t say what is so obvious to us in our area of expertise. We learned those things like 10 years ago and it’s all common sense to us now. We’re afraid of someone responding, “Yeah, everyone knows that.” The thing is, everyone DOESN’T know it.

So when you don’t talk about all of those “obvious” things, you limit the value you can deliver to a client. And by doing that you put a limit on the income you could be generating.

Never assume that just because it’s old hat to you that there’s no value there for them.
