About four years ago, I was an angry elf. I was a little hot under the collar about some former clients and a bunch of money that was no longer coming my way due to me being stupid. You could say I was just a wee bit fed up with the whole business.
So I decided to stop working for clients and go create my own business that didn’t depend on them. Ha. I’d show them! (Sometimes I crack myself up.)
I sat and thought for a while about what that business could be. After talking with a friend, I settled on the idea you see below. This was the logo:
Clients Suck. That pretty much summed up what I thought at the time. (OK, so maybe saying I was a “little” hot under the collar wasn’t accurate.)
So I started writing. I started writing about the challenges you face when you work with clients. I started writing about attracting clients, managing clients, dealing with mindset and dealing with money. I start writing and I didn’t stop.
Eventually, the anger subsided. Eventually, I began to realize that whole mess was the best thing that ever happened to my business career.
Eventually, I realized that I could help an enormous number of people, in very deep ways, to create transformation in their lives and businesses.
Fast forward four years, and the Client Letter has turned into something I never could have planned. I woke up one day and BAM, I had a business.
That’s the power of a platform, by the way. You don’t have to have a master plan. You can make it up as you go. Adjustments are easy because the core channel through which everything flows never changes.
Even more than having a business, though, I had a mission:
- The mission is to help you stop playing small.
- The mission is to show you how powerful you actually are.
- The mission is to help you undo decades of brainwashing you received at the hands of a fear-based, insecure and crumbling system designed to control people.
- The mission is to help you package and position what you do in a way that makes you irresistible.
- The mission is to offer you a recipe you can use to become an Incomparable Expert.
Ultimately, it’s about helping anyone who is willing to listen to stand up, take responsibility and live life as you see fit.
So, here’s to four more years. I appreciate that you are taking this journey with me. Apparently, we’re all EXACTLY where we’re supposed to be at the moment.
