Getting Out of the Busyness Business

I was on the phone with a client last week and he asked me about a service of mine he noticed had just up and disappeared. 🙂

So I explained why. It’s actually a side effect of the platform approach to business building. About every 6-8 months, I have to reinvent what I’m doing. It’s not because it’s not working, it’s actually because it IS working.

My universe grows and I get the opportunity to move my position in my business system.

To be more specific, I have to sit down and figure out how to stop being so busy and how to help more people with less effort.

I have to reinvent what I’m doing from a strategic level.

Why? I don’t want to be in the busyness business. To me, “being busy” isn’t the hallmark of true wealth or success. I think it’s the exact opposite.

I can be a rat in an office cubicle. There’s no reason to be a rat in my own business.

As Thoreau says…

“A man is rich in proportion to the number of things which he can afford to let alone.”

I agree with him. I see a lot of “successful” people who are so addicted to work they are forgetting to live. That’s fine for them, it’s their life. But it’s always a reminder to me that I don’t want that.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 28, at 11:00 AM PST, I’m cohosting (she’s running the show, I’m coming along!) a training with someone who has offered to show you how to get out of the busyness business and scale your service business the smart way. Her name is Mandi Ellefson. She’s known in her circles as the “Service Scalability Strategist.”
