Think how hard the village baker had it 250 years ago.
He’d open up his shop in the village, put the loaves of bread in the window, and wait for people to come by.
Let’s say you, the baker, were a little bit ahead of your time and decided to offer a bakery full of only gluten free baked goods.
I can’t be sure, but I’d venture a guess that your gluten free self would have had a hard time making it in the village. What are the chances that you’d find enough gluten free folks to support your store?
Not good at all.
Today, things are different. No matter where you live, you can make your own “village.” Oh, the people who patronize your store might not live anywhere near you, but that’s no matter. You can build a village around just about any type of product or service these days.
But there is ONE thing you need to help your village grow.
When anyone can stand up and start speaking to the world with free or nearly free tools, the only folks who are going to get noticed are the ones who have something to say.
The good news is that everyone has something to say.
The bad news is that most people never figure out what that thing is. Why? Because they spend their time trying to figure out what they think they’re supposed to say, instead of figuring out what they actually have to say.
It doesn’t really matter if you’re talking about business or your personal life, the point is that you have unique value to offer to the world… to people all over the world.
The product or service you offer is just one way to offer that value.
What does it stand for?
