Time to do a little house cleaning…
I have to admit, I haven’t done it enough over the years.
The thing is, we’re all growing. So what’s right for us last month might not be right for us this month.
I know I’ve spent a lot of time pursuing things in business that simply weren’t right for me.
Instead of paying attention to the clues, I “stuck it out” because that’s what we’re all taught to do, right?
Wrong. I know now that sticking it out because of some odd dedication to an idea that that’s what I’m supposed to do… well it’s just dumb.
I’m learning to “clean my house” much more often and remove things that aren’t right for me. No one else is going to do it. And if I don’t, I’ll allow myself to become weighted down so my progress will grind to a halt.
House cleaning doesn’t mean I’m getting rid of garbage… that the things I’m getting rid of are stupid or anything. They’re just not right for me.
Years ago, I didn’t have the courage to point at something in my life and say, “You don’t belong here any more, thank you.” I’ve learned a lot over the years in business and life. And I’ve put a lot of that knowledge into this.
The thing is, you don’t need ANY excuse or explanation to make or justify your own choices. You don’t owe that to anyone. You simply owe it to yourself to do what you feel is right for you. It took me a long time to get that… even longer to put it into action.
Imagine a world where everyone looked out for their own well-being.
“Oh that’s so selfish,” some might say.
Exactly. For it is in caring for ourselves that we are able to care for others.
Take a look at your business and your life. Are there things in there that no longer belong?
When do you think is the right time to stop carrying those things?
(Yesterday is already over, so your next best choice is probably right now.)
