I realized some time ago that client attraction is NOT an event.
You don’t just show up at a “notworking networking” function and pick up a client, drive him right to the office and have him pay you high fees.
No, getting great clients is a process.
You begin with a Step #1. Then there’s a Step #2, then there’s a Step #3.
Prospects don’t always go through all of these steps, but you can have them there to provide a natural progression.
I think of the whole thing like orbits in a solar system. You are the sun, the prospect is the planet way out on the outermost orbit.
Over time, the prospect begins to move in. They hop from one orbit to another. A little closer, a little closer.
The outermost orbit, in my book, is the Platform. From there, you develop orbits that get closer and closer to you. There are open doors you create that lead from one orbit to another.
Just take a minute and think about the people on your Platform. What’s the logical next step for them in the relationship?
That’s the question you can ask yourself, over and over again.
You ask the question, you think, you take some action. The result is something I call a “decision point.” It’s a repeating invitation for your prospect to move to a closer orbit.
This is how you build the client attraction system. You don’t have to do it all in one day. You just do it one step at a time.
