The Upgraded YOU

For as many business books as are written every year, something that didn’t occur to me until years into this game is that the “business” side of things is the easy part.

The challenge, really, is that it’s almost impossible to separate the business from the person or people running the business. This is where it gets complicated.

In the expert business, where you’re selling your expertise or your services or something, it’s even harder. Because everywhere you go, there you are! Everything you do, every client you work with, every prospect with whom you speak… they ALL bring you face to face with yourself… your limits, your fears, your weaknesses.

What a business this is!

When I look back at my own business journey, I started knowing nothing about marketing or selling or attracting or setting fees or anything.

Not so coincidentally, I also knew very little about ME.

By that, I mean, I was a ship with no port. I had little to no internal compass. No idea where I was headed. No understanding of what I was here to do.

As you can imagine, this makes knowing which way to go rather difficult. Every path is a path to somewhere.

And so I sailed based on the whims, dreams and desires of others. What a way to travel!

In the early years, I overloaded myself on the business knowledge. I was pretty much like a sponge. I invested a lot of time and effort upgrading my business skills in the areas of copywriting, sales and marketing.

Unfortunately, the other side, the upgrading of ME as the person, took a backseat.

These days, I see things a bit more clearly. Thank goodness.

This little business game we all play, it’s hardly about business. It’s about you becoming a better you. You do that and, over time, the business you have will reap the benefits.

If you’re in a situation where you think it might be time to upgrade YOU, I’m hosting an event you might find helpful. Take a look…
