The Problem With Being Too Helpful

You would think there wouldn’t be such a thing as being too helpful. But I’ve proven to myself many times there actually is such a thing. I’ve proven it so many times that I could fill a scrapbook with all of the stories.

When you go out of your way to help people, things can get weird. When you give TOO much, things get weird. I don’t know why. I don’t know how. I just know this is what happens.

I just proved it to myself again trying to give something worth a few thousand bucks away to someone.

We made an appointment for the pickup, they didn’t show. We made another appointment for the pickup, they didn’t show. Apologies flew through the air but they still didn’t come.

I asked them for another convenient time to do the pick-up…radio silence.

A younger Jason would have kept trying. This Jason is done trying.

This Jason understands that help not received is not actually help.

And so the item will go to someone who is ready to receive.

It doesn’t seem to make sense to go out of your way to help people. There’s something about human nature that can twist that into a bizarre situation.

It does seem to make sense, however, to help those who are ready to receive that you discover along your path.
