I’ve never really known what it’s like to be the tortoise…
I’ve always done things quickly. Wanted things yesterday. Rushed to get things done.
Somewhere that changed.
I don’t know exactly why or how that changed, but here’s my hunch:
I think I got so fed-up with trying to control everything that something inside me cracked open.
I basically gave up. I gave up something I should have given up long ago.
I gave up caring about things I don’t control. (Which is almost everything.)
I gave up chasing all of the things I didn’t have but thought I should.
I started to actually UNDERSTAND that if I can’t want what I have, I’ll never be happy once I get what I want.
This is actually quite a blessing in the world of business.
Because what it ends up looking like is a complete detachment from what happens “out there.”
On Thursday April 4, I’m going to walk you through a simple and straightforward system for putting this tool to work in your business. There is no part of business this skill cannot impact in a major way.
A complete detachment from results is a huge competitive advantage in the client business.
Truly NOT caring what happens (because you’re moving forward no matter what) is a beautiful feeling.
And feeling it is the key. To me, that’s the feeling of freedom.
Oddly enough, it’s that freedom that the world finds irresistibly attractive.
The secret is that it’s a freedom that has little to do with outside circumstances.
So now I wake up each day as the tortoise. I sit down and write. I sit down and create. Inch by inch. I’ve settled into what real progress feels like.
It’s not a lightning bolt, it’s more like the flowing of a river.
I know what I put in, that’s what I care about.
From there, it’s just about enjoying the rest of the movie as it unfolds.
