Lead generation can be pretty frustrating.

Going out and connecting with a complete stranger in a way that gets a message across takes some thinking and often LOTS of trial and error.

But after you’ve figured out how you want to show up and add value to the world with a media platform, earning the attention of people you can help IS the work.

Now I’m not a flavor of ice cream that’s right for most people, so people don’t exactly FLOCK to my world.

It’s never been that way and I don’t expect it to change. The main thing I’m selling is truth and work, which up until now has not been a hot topic of average human conversation.

So I have to go out and let the world know I’m alive.

Lead generation is a tough nut to crack. You have to work at it.

I’ve found that one of the best ways to do that, to provide energy for the potentially very long and even frustrating journey, is to actually remember you are trying to reach REAL HUMAN BEINGS here.

John and Betty and Sue and Thomas. These folks have families and kids and hopes and dreams and a list of fears a mile long.

And before YOU show up, they have problems that remain unsolved or goals that are not yet realized.

The next thing I’ve learned is to stop thinking about buying leads and start thinking about investing in reaching new people.

Investing is smart. Investing is also risky. There’s no guarantee. This is exactly how lead generation works. You’re investing in attention. And there’s no guarantee you get anything. It’s best to go in with that mindset because it keeps you from trying to get something for nothing.

It also gives you a much longer view of things.

Finally, commit to a process and just work the process. Choose ONE way to reach out to the world and master it.

Every lead generation method works sometimes. Pick the one that is most likely a powerful way to connect with the people you want to reach and then work on it.

If you don’t see immediate success, that’s probably a good sign that there’s gold hiding there once you dig down far enough. Most people won’t have the patience to do the work.

That’s the advantage.
