School trained us that if you want to solve problems, you have to focus on them. You should “think about it.” Dig deep and look for a solution. You can do it sheep, go, go, work harder!
In life though, out in the material world, sitting down and focusing on your own problems is not such a smart thing to do.
Doing this tends to shrink your world down around you the longer you do it. You start seeing less possibility. Your vision is consumed by the problem on which your focus is set. You get stuck in your head. Your power and awareness are trapped in your mind and bounce around between the walls of what you believe are the boundaries of possibility.
Let’s say you want to get some clients.
Years ago, I thought the smartest way to do that was to sit down, ask myself, “How can I get some clients?” and then take action on my ideas.
These days, I realize this is not effective.
Focusing on solving your own problems is not the most direct route to a solution.
Focusing on solving other people’s problems IS.
So my recommendation, as crazy as it sounds, is to stop focusing on getting clients and start focusing on becoming a valuable force in the lives of people who COULD be your clients but aren’t.
It takes a bit of crazy, no rational reason for it, TRUST to do this.
Do you know what trust IS though? It gets made light of as a fluffy “nothing” in the shallow business world, but that’s only because the system would rather you never discover it!
It’s radical, revolutionary, and it makes you “dangerous.”
But the fact that you might NOT trust this route, or yourself, or the Universe, is only a habit you’ve learned over the years. It was installed in you. No child comes this way.
But once you build a new habit of trusting things like this (and trusting yourself, for goodness’ sake!), then that becomes your new normal.
Worried about your problems? The only consistent solution I’ve found to that is to train yourself to STOP the worry and figure out how to add light to the lives of others.
