Years ago, I was talking with someone on the phone and he made an observation I found pretty intriguing…
He said, you have the ability to attract the attention of the higher-ups.
Now depending on exactly WHO the “higher-ups” are, this is not always a welcomed thing! (I’ll take it though.) But in general, he was making an observation that completely fit with my reality–especially in my client work.
I attract great clients. Not a FLOOD of them (there aren’t that many!), but a good supply of them.
I never really work at this, it just happens. And it continues to happen.
But my ego has always had a problem with this it seems. It’s never enough for my ego. My ego looks at what I easily attract and says, “Dude, there’s no leverage in that!” My ego wants to live the internet dream and have 30K customers and 40 billion dollars while I sip a drink on the beach. (Silly little ego.)
Walking the Incomparable Expert path means you need to embrace who you are, not reject it. It means you need to figure out a way to leverage what makes you unique, NOT a way to hide those things in an effort to “fit in.”
Sheep FIT IN. You do not.
So the solution isn’t to change what flows naturally for you. The solution is to figure out how to use it for your benefit and the benefit of others.
You are wired to attract people and resources into your life in a certain way.
Discover what that way is. Leverage THAT.
