RE: Near life experiences

So last night was the Blood Moon. It was the first lunar eclipse I’ve ever seen up close and personal. Out here in Arizona you could see it start around 10:30 PM or so. By 12:30, it was glowing red. Pretty amazing. Looking up at the sky like that helps to put into better perspective all of the petty garbage we allow to clutter our minds. It just doesn’t matter.

While the moon was cool, 12:30 AM is quite a bit past my bedtime. Which leads me to the activity I used as a way to keep me up late enough to see the moon.

For the first time in my life, I watched the movie Fight Club.

Lots of good wisdom in there if you are paying attention and don’t get too caught up in all of the blood flying all over your screen.

One part jumped out at me… it was the part about actually getting out there and living the life you see fit to live. That’s the one where you live without regard for what other people think about you.

In today’s world, living like that pretty much makes you a revolutionary. And I think that lifestyle might bring you darn close to having one of those “near life experiences” they mentioned in the movie. That’s where you actually risk, even if just for a moment, being truly alive.

As it turns out, this is also a pretty effective way to build a business. By that I mean, you build your business based on how you want to live your life.

Don’t want to work on Fridays? Don’t.

Don’t want to do low fee work for clients who are nothing but drama? Don’t.

Don’t want to eat fish on Fridays? For goodness sake, then don’t do it.

If you want to stick out and present a clearly unique option for your clients, then you can’t be shy about who you are, what you stand for, what you do and what you won’t do.

You have to go out there and live it.

As they said in the movie, “This is your life, and it’s ending one minute at a time.”
