Almost a year ago, that furry little being you see over there became the newest addition to our family. His name is Basil. He’s a miniature Australian Shepherd that flew in from somewhere in Kansas.
That makes 5 kids and 5 dogs. Talk about a situation in need of leadership.
In preparation for Basil’s arrival, we did some long overdue work with our other dogs to make sure it was clear who’s in charge.
The results of our work were amazing.
In the past, we’ve dealt with a cacophony of barking every time someone would come to the door. The dogs would go nuts even if that “someone” was us.
Well, that behavior (among others) disappeared when we started working with the dogs.
What did we do?
It’s not really about what we did, it’s more about how we decided to be.
We became leaders.
Your Choice as a Business Owner
The similarities between working with dogs and growing a successful business working with clients are crystal clear. Your choice in both situations is whether to lead or to be led.
If you go into the marketplace and do not show up with a strong, secure energy and presence, you will be eaten alive.
If you go in lacking a strong belief in yourself, your lack of belief will be reflected right back in your face time and time again.
Understand this:
You do not need permission…
You do not need validation…
You do not need approval…
All you need is a goal and the will to pursue it.
If you’re selling face to face, you already know how important the energy you emit is in deciding the outcome of each sales situation.
If you’re selling on the internet, you want the same energy to come through in your marketing and every interaction you have with your clients and/or customers.
Go in there with energy that is weak, submissive and needy and you will lose.
Go in there with energy that is strong, dominant and empowered and… whether or not you win will be irrelevant–even though you’ll tend to win.
Lead the pack… it’s the only place you’ll have an unobstructed view of the goal.
See you next time,

P.S. On Sunday night, I’ll be closing down my one-on-one coaching program. I really enjoy helping people one on one, but I can’t handle too many coaching clients before my schedule starts to get full.
I will probably bring a coaching program back at some point, but there will be two changes. First, the fee will go up. The value of what I help people do in a relatively short period of time is huge. So the fee will be more in line with that value. Also, the program will probably not be one-on-one. It will be a group situation which will allow me to help a lot more people.
You have about 2 days before I stop accepting new members. If you want private coaching to help grow your business, now is the time to get it.
