The Desert of Arizona
Cloudy 55 Degrees
My daughter Amelia is 12 today. In our house, the birthday kid gets to choose dinner, so I’m on deck for concocting shrimp scampi and some apple dumplings.
There’s something you learn pretty quickly as a new parent. It may or may not be true for you, but it’s certainly true in this house.
If there’s something you’d like your child to do, pretty much the only way to ever ensure that thing happens is to tell them they can’t do it.
It’s almost like magic. This is about the only thing that works nearly 100% of the time 🙂
We were all there once ourselves when we were kids. But over the years, we grow up and turn into adults… at least on the outside.
On the inside, we’re still operating like children pretty much. And that’s why, if there’s anything that’s consistently true about us humans, it’s this:
We want what we can’t have.
If you understand this, then you know why running out into the world and chasing down clients just isn’t a smart move.
You also know the secret to flipping things around so that you become attractive.
Playing “hard to get” isn’t something you hit people over the head with. It’s subtle. It’s used in controlled amounts. Just like salt and pepper.
We’ll talk more about this whole dynamic next week here. If you’re not registered, time is running out.
