Sometimes, you just need to make the phone ring with some new business…
That’s the position I was in back when I hung out my shingle as a copywriter. I was living in the middle of nowhere Indiana, so “pounding the pavement” for clients wasn’t an option.
There wasn’t anyone on the pavement!
Instead, I had to figure out how to “reach out” and bring the clients to me. And I kind of needed them YESTERDAY.
It took a little bit of work. And I made some serious mistakes.
My first attempts included me sending out letters talking about how great I was. BIG FAIL.
I started to get a LITTLE bit smarter when I started sending things out that actually had some value to my prospect.
Eventually, I started getting the hang of things.
I still remember one prospect getting in touch with me to tell me I could stop sending my materials because they were going to hire me.
That client invested over $20K in my services.
I’m not going to tell you exactly what I sent (we’ll save that for another time), but here are two things to keep in mind:
1. You MUST show up different. This is merely the price of entry to get attention.
2. You MUST have a very clear “next step” for the prospect to take. And ideally, a reason for them to take that step sooner than later.
But getting clients fast IS possible. And it all started with ME reaching out to THEM. A total stranger.
I tell you this story to illustrate that there ARE things you can do when you need business sooner than later. You CAN be proactive while you wait for your Platform based client attraction system to develop and do its thing.
I realized, that while I talk so much about the slow and steady approach to client attraction, it might be helpful to share what I know about getting clients FAST.
So that’s what I’m offering to share with you here.
Space is limited and my hunch is that this will be a popular topic. So register sooner than later.
