When I first started this daily message, I did it because I wasn’t sure what else to do.
Due to my extreme naivete, I had just managed to blow up a nice little client retainer of almost $200k per year.
I have this horrible habit of trusting people, so I pretty much walked into the situation in an effort to help some people. But it didn’t work out and I found myself out in the cold (OK, I live in the desert, “cold” is relative.) with nothing on my calendar.
This daily practice has brought more value to my life than any other activity I can think of.
Whatever is important to you, do it every day.
When you make this decision, there’s no other decision that has to be made. You don’t have to decide if you’ll do it “today,” because you do it every day!
You’ve taken your ability to sabotage yourself off the table. And, if you happen to tell a bunch of people you care for about this practice, then it’s even easier to keep going.
Because if you don’t, you look like a real loser.
There are some people who say they only speak or write when they have something to say. I think that’s largely an excuse.
I have something to say because I’ve committed to having something to say.
There’s magic in a daily practice, no matter what that is for you.
