How do you strike instant fear in the heart of the average service provider?

Stick him in front of a qualified prospect and have that prospect ask, “So what do you do?”

What usually follows a question like that is an awkward, long and boring explanation of a bunch of things the prospect couldn’t care less about.

Not a great way to attract clients.

  • You will forever have downward pressure on your fees. No one pays premium fees for average service providers. And make no mistake, in the eyes of your clients, you will be an average service provider. Not because you aren’t good at what you do but because your client will lack the understanding about why what you do is inherently more valuable than his other options.
  • Because of your lack of clarity, you end up getting bogged down with trouble clients who really have no business being your clients. WITH clarity about the true value you provide, you can quickly sift and sort and filter out the clients who aren’t a good fit.
  • You will be forced to “compete for the business” and slash your fees and speed up your delivery in an effort to win projects. Running your business like that is a race to the bottom where there are no winners.
  • You will forever be perceived as the “hired hand” rather than a partner with your client. You will not be asked for your advice, you will be given your marching orders.
