Do You Want to Be My Lead?

No one wakes up and says, “Boy, I’d love to hop into someone’s sales funnel today!”

To me, showing up as an Incomparable Expert means you think, work and even live on a level most people aren’t interested in pursuing.

You don’t show up because you want something. You show up because you have value to offer and you have something to say.

You might think that’s a subtle difference, but I don’t. Those two points are energetic worlds apart from each other.

To me, the media platform is about creating something that people can depend on.

That is what creates the magic. It communicates a truth you never have to say.

Where are your wants and needs on the list of priorities for the media platform?

They aren’t low on the list, they are on a separate list. That is the BYPRODUCT list. Byproducts are things you receive as a consequence of pursuing this route. Think of “you getting what you want” as a positive side effect.

But this idea is hard to spread and hard for people to accept.

Take, for example, the buzzword “content marketing.”

That seems to be a popular thing now. But most of the time I see it, it’s presented as simply the newest old way to get what you want.

For ADVISORS or anyone who wants to be perceived as the expert, you must discipline yourself to keep your wants in the backseat of the car where they belong. If that’s a new thing for you, you’ll just have to TRUST this is the smart long term move. If you have trouble trusting that, just flip things around, put yourself in the client’s shoes, and ask how you’d like to be treated.

If you want to build momentum, build trust, build a reputation, then you have to stick around somewhere long enough for that to happen.

And just creating a pile of “content” doesn’t build that.

Choosing a group of people (or choosing a specific problem) and focusing on distributing solutions to far more people than could ever work with you… to me, that’s the recipe.

How do you get all these people?

Well, understand that while you can pay for attention, you cannot pay for trust.

So you pay (lead generation) to get attention, even for the briefest of moments, and your platform takes it from there.

But you have to have a media platform.

Waiting will not make this easier. Since you pay for trust in time.

Start today, start next month. Just understand that for every day you wait, you push out into the future THAT DAY when one of your subscribers will say, “THIS is the person for me!”
