The Desert of Arizona
Partly Cloudy 67 Degrees
So we have a lizard living in the basement of our guest house. And it’s not small. I caught a glimpse of it the other day and it’s probably a little bit over a foot long including its tail.
I’m all for being nice and kind to the animal kingdom, but my wife is hosting a training later this week and we have some extra house guests coming in conjunction with that. So we’re not going to have an extra bed for a lizard.
He’s gotta go.
In a situation like this, there’s not much “selling” that needs to happen. We as the prospective clients go in search of a solution. My wife emailed a local extermination company hoping to find someone who could help relocate the snake with legs to safer ground.
They were actually pretty quick with their reply. Unfortunately, it was only 3 words.
They said, “LOL… good luck!”
So the next step is to see if we can trap it ourselves.
Most of us who sell services don’t have the luxury of such a simple sales equation like this one. I certainly don’t have people bleeding from the neck coming to me for a solution. And I’ve never fielded a call from a prospect who needed a sales system to get a lizard to move out.
Does anyone NEED sales copy or marketing systems or a mindset upgrade as a matter of life or death? Maybe… but the number is tiny.
If you’re in a similar situation where the service you provide is a “nice to have” or even a “great to have” but clearly isn’t a MUST have on an existential level, then you have to be smart about selling.
If you push too hard, you lose.
If you just sit there, you also lose.
Are you going to be a trusted advisor? Are you going to be a salesperson? Can you somehow be both?
How are you supposed to sell without ruining your trusted advisor status?
The answer is that YOU aren’t. It’s your system that engineers that result. That’s the real secret.
If you subscribe to the Field Report, you are shown on a regular basis how this works. In particular, there’s a pretty compelling example in the “Systems Secret” strategy report you get upon subscribing.
If you haven’t yet subscribed, all of that is waiting for you here.
