The Desert of Arizona
Clear 66 Degrees
As I write this, I’m listening to my colleague, Mike Seddon, present his Last Webinar. If you missed it, you obviously weren’t meant to be there. If you didn’t miss it, or if you plan on listening to the recording, then that’s because there’s a message that you are supposed to hear right now. Make sure you listen carefully. More importantly, make sure that THIS time, you actually take action on the direction you know you want to go.
One sentence Mike spoke a few minutes ago jumped out at me. It’s something that can not only transform your business but your entire life. And it speaks to a disease that is currently running rampant in our world.
Here’s what Mike said:
“Give yourself permission to be yourself.” -Mike Seddon
Take a look at what you are currently doing and how you are doing it. Most likely, your training and your brainwashing have succeeded (in full or in part) at rounding off the rough “edges” that make you unique.
The system can’t deal with unique. The system can’t deal with different. The system has two methods of dealing with different: It either compels the different one to assimilate or it ostracizes the different one and transforms that being into an outcast.
This is the behavior of something that is extremely insecure. Something that is built on lies. And that’s exactly why it’s crumbling. Truth eventually wins.
But most people simply don’t have the fortitude to withstand an onslaught like that from the system. I certainly didn’t for a long time. The reason is that this onslaught usually begins when we’re kids. Not really a fair fight if you think about it.
And so we grow up wondering why we don’t make impact. We grow up wondering why no one hears what we’re saying. We grow up trying to make it, but we’ve stepped way off the path we are here to walk. A soaring eagle isn’t so impressive if you ask it to swim a lap in the pool. That’s NOT what it is here to do.
We have been fooled into thinking we’re supposed to be like someone else.
If you hear the words “Incomparable Expert” and they create a good feeling in you, understand that there’s a reason for that. You are recognizing what you are actually here to be.
I’ve stumbled onto a way to do that via a media platform. A simple newsletter, podcast or whatever. I imagine there are other ways, but that’s not what I do.
Creating a media platform has nothing to do with becoming something or someone you are not. It has everything to do with amplifying what you already are in a way that clearly communicates that unique value to the world in a compelling way.
It detects those “rough edges” and brings them back to the forefront. It celebrates and leverages the unique value you bring to the world.
I wasn’t planning on hosting another Platform Lab any time soon, but I’ve had enough people asking that there’s no reason to wait. This is the work I’m here to do. So if there are people ready and waiting, then let’s do it. Next session begins July 21.
Either way, your life is too short not to spend it being yourself.
