Back at the end of 2010, I started publishing something called The Monday Hotsheet.

Every Monday, I put out a new issue. Now 124 issues later, I’m starting to find my rhythm.

To be frank, I made a huge mistake early on and tried to sell the Hotsheet as a subscription product. The subscription rate was $9.95 per month. A no brainer buy right?

Not so fast… There were two problems with this:

  • For some reason, my experience has been that it’s a lot easier to sell high ticket things than cheap things. I stopped trying to figure out why. You might not believe it, but selling a bunch of electrons at $9.95 isn’t as easy as you’d think.
  • I put up a paywall at the ENTRANCE of my world. Looking back, and given the margins in my consulting business (99.999999999%), this is “soooooper” stupid. But we learn.

Despite these errors, I managed to attract some very qualified prospects as subscribers.

In fact, just off the top of my head, I can quickly count over $75K of income originating from just one or two of those paying subscribers.

Coinkidink?

Maybe, maybe not. Doesn’t matter really.

My gut tells me this is the power of a PLATFORM.

Free to fee. That’s how it works.

You don’t have to be a genius to do this, you just have to be willing to do the work.

How can you be repeatedly valuable to your prospects in advance, and in a way that they’d want that value even if they never hire you?

If you’ve been on this list for any length of time, you know I specialize in the selling of “hard work.” It’s incredibly difficult to sell, mind you… and most entrepreneurs would consider it a death wish, but really, it’s as close to a mission as I’ve ever gotten.

The truth is hard to sell. But when you get a buyer, BOY are they satisfied. So that’s what I do. I’m looking for wolves basically.

I’m not saying building a PLATFORM is the only way to go. But I am saying it’s the surest bet, given the risk (which is practically ZIPPPO).

Actually, I think it’s the best way to sell yourself.

And in just a couple of weeks, I’m going to show you how to build a platform for yourself. Should be fun!
