The Northland
Cloudy/Rainy 52 Degrees
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The electric just came back on…
When I woke up this morning, we were dealing with a gray, rainy and super windy 52 degrees… on June 21… the Summer Solstice.
For a day that’s so focused on the sun, we have yet to see it here in our little corner of the world. Pretty much like the 21,000 folks who gathered today at Stonehenge.
When our electric went out this morning (twice), everything stopped.
I was about to take everyone out for breakfast until I realized that the garage door wouldn’t open either (oops… note to self: don’t be that stupid next time).
You could say that, in our society, electric is a single point of failure. That goes away and everything stops.
In the client business, we have the potential for a single point of failure too.
As they say (OK… as I say), “The road to happiness goes right through the town of ‘Deal Flow.'”
If your deal flow is high enough, you can weather just about anything.
I know we’re after a client, but when you focus just on that, you kind of miss the forest for the trees in my experience.
I don’t just want a client. I’d rather have a consistent flow of possible clients. I don’t want a sure thing, I want access to consistent opportunity.
That’s something that is stable. That’s potential. A steady flow of possible “deals.”
That’s what my goal is. That way, I don’t really care if this one works out, or if that one works out, there’s always another one coming along.
You know that MLM saying, “Some will, some won’t, so what, next!” Well, it’s only true if you’ve got people standing in line. Otherwise, there IS no “next.”
So you have to make the line of people a priority. To reach that goal, you have to work. There’s no other way to do it. (Did I say that out loud?)
The work takes time, but there IS a payoff. And it’s worth it! It’s all about deal flow. Remember that.
The latest issue of The Rainmaker Letterâ„¢ is out today. In it, I interview a fitness professional who talks about how he went from 10 clients 6 years ago to 100 clients today.
The real interesting part is that about 80% of that growth happened in a very short period of time. Wanna know his secret? Rainmaker Subscribers know it now. And you can too when you subscribe.
