Who Certified the Certifier?

“If the natural tendencies of mankind are so bad that it is not safe to permit people to be free, how is it that the tendencies of these organizers are always good? Do not the legislators and their appointed agents also belong to the human race? Or do they believe that they themselves are made of a finer clay than the rest of mankind?”

-Frédéric Bastiat, The Law

A quote like this is a bit like opening up a Pandora’s box of truth. Surely a topic that is much too heavy for the Holiday season 🙂

So let’s take this same idea and dial it down a few notches to something you might want to consider if you’re out there being an expert for someone…

As Dan Kennedy always asks, “Who certified the certifier?”

As it turns out, the answer is usually that they certified themselves and then made it their business to certify others.

A lot of service providers walk around like they are hiding a secret. Like they are afraid someone will find out they are a fraud.

I believe this is a feeling that is shared by millions.

This, of course, is not a coincidence. That feeling was put there on purpose by a system that is crumbling right before our eyes.

You’re supposed to act like this because it makes you easy to control.

The first step to removing the feeling is to become aware of it. See it. Watch it. Notice how it controls your actions. The control often comes in the form of self-censoring of your words or deeds. But it could come in many other forms.

The second step is to see the feeling for what it is: a lie.

If you’re waiting for someone to certify you, stop waiting. Life is too short to give your power away.

Take a look at the world. People are slowly starting to realize just how powerful they are. They are starting to realize they have little need for the “certifiers” who have taken it upon themselves to control others for centuries.

This is happening on a large scale, of course. But this same dynamic lives in your head.

If you’re looking for permission, you’re playing the old game.
