When Size Matters

One of the most powerful ways to improve the results of your business is to make an adjustment to the SIZE of the problem you solve for the world.

Solve a problem that’s too small and you will be a vendor. You will then be subject to the constraints that come with such a position.

Solve a problem that’s too large and you won’t get the results. The promises you make will be beyond your capacity to keep.

Solve a problem that’s JUST RIGHT and you find a sweet spot where you are greatly rewarded for your work and the impact you deliver is large enough to make a difference.

You are greatly rewarded because your fee is a “great deal” when compared to the value of the problem you solve.

Choosing which problem you solve is completely under your control. And it can take a good deal of thinking and tinkering to get it right.

I could offer web design for massage therapists. But aiming my focus at a problem of that size will not created the impact I’m looking for in the world and it will not provide the rewards I am looking to create.

The amazing part of this equation is that, often times, what you actually DO will not change all that much. What WILL change is the target at which you aim what you do. The “target” is the definition of the problem you solve.

And with a shift in target will come a shift in the story you tell about what you do.

You literally can make this up in a way where it works best for you and for the world.
