The 4 Million in the Bank Trick

Just yesterday I got another email from a Client Letter subscriber explaining what happens when you don’t “need” a client. When they realize you don’t need them, it tends to make you more attractive.

When you chase the client, they don’t want you. When you stop chasing them and start walking away, they take notice.

I’m not sure I’ll ever stop being amazed and amused by this.

When you’ve got bills to pay, however, it’s not always easy to get this feeling of “not needing” in your gut when you actually DO need.

So sometimes, we have to resort to a little trick to get the result we want. I guess you could call it, the 4 million bucks in the bank trick.

The next time you go into a prospective client meeting, imagine what it would feel like to be in that meeting knowing you had 4 million dollars in the bank.

Would you really care about whether that prospective client hired you or not? Of course you wouldn’t.

Just let yourself stew in that feeling for a little while. Because THAT’S the feeling you want. That’s what not needing feels like.

And if you can walk in with that feeling, then you’re going to get superior outcomes over time.

The funniest part of all of this is the trick you play on your mind about the 4 million dollars.

My hunch is that if I had a few million dollars sitting in the bank right now, it probably wouldn’t take too long before I’d feel just about like I feel right now.

But obviously, your mind doesn’t think that. It thinks that a few million bucks under the mattress would change everything. So we’ll just use that to our advantage for now.

Is this smoke and mirrors? Of course it is. But I’m OK with it because the only person we’re tricking here is YOU!! Give yourself permission to pull the wool over your eyes and take this out for a spin.

Try it next time you’re talking with a prospect and see what happens. I bet you’ll be pretty surprised.

If you want a more detailed plan for building this “feeling” through your entire client attraction system, then here’s where you can find it.
