With all due respect to Moses and english teachers everywhere, today we have the 10 Commandments of Client Getting:

1. Thou shalt not reapeth before you planteth.

You don’t get clients, you grow them. You attract them. No one expects the squash to be full grown tomorrow. Same with your prospects.

2. Thou shalt maketh thy money on the buy.

Choose winners and help them win bigger. Stay away from people who have no business. How much money you make has to do with the quality of clients you choose, not how good you are.

3. Thou shalt not selleth, only sorteth.

Get out of the habit of “hard selling” anyone. Sift and sort, sift and sort. The real effort goes into the generation of the leads. PERIOD.

4. Aimeth not to please, aimeth at something better.

Your goal is not to please your clients, it is to help them achieve something.

5. Feareth not looking stupid.

Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone screws up. Don’t go into things playing not to lose. Play only to win. There you will find freedom.

6. Chargeth what you want.

Your fees are your business, period. If anyone has a problem with that, choose someone else.

7. Geteth paid in advance.

Waiting to get paid usually results in unforeseen events that affect your ability to get paid. Get paid first.

8. Fisheth always, fisheth often.

The best time to focus on client getting is right after you signed up a client, not when you actually need a client. Let energy work in your favor.

9. Thou shalt not worketh thyself to death.

Business is about profit. In the service business, that means you work less and get more. That’s not lazy folks, that’s the point.

10. Thou shalt followeth not.

Your clients aren’t looking to hire followers, they are looking for leaders. BE that leader.
