Slow Motion Home Runs

I have to say, it sure is exciting to hit “home runs” in business. Thinking about doing that creates some real excitement in almost anyone with the entrepreneurial gene.

In the platform model, however, home runs seem to happen differently.

In my experience, they tend to happen much more SLOWLY. They happen in slow motion.

If you’re an adrenaline junkie, this might take a bit of getting used to. But it’s a beautiful flow once you get accustomed to SLOWING down.

In the media platform model, where you are attracting clients and customers slowly, you don’t step up to the plate hoping to hit a home run.

Why not?

Because you don’t control when that happens. And you have the guts to admit it. And rather than riding the emotional roller coaster of thinking you can make home runs happen at will, you get off that ride and actually build something you control.

You would think that not hitting home runs when you choose to is a bad thing. It’s worse when it actually happens.

Because then your ego starts to tell you that you can make it happen. And maybe NEXT TIME you can make it happen again. And then you’re just a rat again chasing a high. Some days you get satisfied other days you get nuttin’.

I don’t want to be a rat. It’s tiring.

In the media platform model, the priority shifts AWAY from trying to “hit home runs” and it focuses on feeding your system with the raw materials required to produce consistent “home runs,” in slow-motion, over time.
