Put On Your Platform Shoes

How many people have heard about your business this month?

Is it more than last month?

If not, why not?

When I work with people in my private mentoring program, the first thing we get going is something I refer to as a “platform.”

Without something like this, it’s really hard to ATTRACT clients.

“Platform” isn’t a very sexy description of the tool, I admit. But it brings the right picture into my mind so I use it.

A platform is the tool you use in your business to deliver value to prospects over time.

A platform does all of the heavy lifting for you. And it gently and slowly leads the right clients back to you.

In my business working with clients, I have a few “platforms.”

In this business, Art of Clients, you’re experiencing my platform right now. It’s this very letter.

The platform is a LEVERAGED way that I add value to the lives of many, many people well in advance of them ever hiring me.

Most of them never will, and I’m OK with that.

The simplest platform is a newsletter.

Yes this is 2013, but the newsletter, based on time invested, is STILL the best bang for my buck. No contest really.

I think social media is pretty much B.S. for attracting clients.

Anywhere that EVERYONE can show up is no place I want to be.

In my client business, I print my newsletter, I fold it up and I stuff it in an envelope.

(Just be sure you don’t use an envelope with a metal clasp. I did recently when I moved to a new format. I quickly found out that the postal service charges you DOUBLE because of the stupid clasp. I could swear the lady behind the counter grinned when she told me that. It’s almost like delivering that news was the best part of her day.

But I digress…)

If you don’t have a leveraged tool working for you to speak with MANY potential clients at once, then I don’t think there’s anything more valuable you could do for your business than get one in motion TODAY.

Really.

Developing a “platform” means you’re giving yourself chances to succeed.

Without leverage… without talking from one to many… how exactly are you going to attract the best clients?

You won’t.

Instead, you’ll be forced to deal with whoever shows up.

And that’s not a smart long term strategy.

With a platform, someone is eventually going to pick-up the phone and call you to inquire about your services.

THAT’S when you use this:
