No More “Content”

Every day, I wake up and go out for a mountain bike ride at 5 am.

It’s a beautiful time to be out. It’s long before the desert heats up. And this morning, it was just me and the howling coyotes. I saw one person walking far off in the distance and five hot air balloons in the sky, but that’s about it.

Two months ago, I took my first “real” mountain bike ride.

I almost died. Or at least that’s what it felt like.

Then I got into a rhythm of riding about once per week with a friend. After the second time out, the “big” hills that almost killed me a week earlier somehow seemed far more manageable. A few of them I no longer classified as hills.

Now that I’m getting even more momentum, it’s time to find the next version of the challenge that no longer feels like a challenge.

This is the power of rhythm. What was once hard is no longer. What once seemed insurmountable is the new normal.

This is why creating a simple media platform (newsletter, podcast, videos, whatever) works. It gets you into a rhythm of production. It forces you to get clear, over time, about your message, it helps you build momentum in a sustainable and consistent way, it develops trust and credibility when you’re not looking. You do it over and over again until you become a master.

The reason it’s hard to believe this could work is because most people think of this part of a business system as “content.”

So that’s what they make. Gotta make more content!

That’s a weird word that kind of dehumanizes the whole reason Incomparable Experts should do this. And that’s why we have an interwebz full of things that don’t change anyone.

No one is looking for more “content.” They’re looking for solutions. They’re looking for connections. They’re looking for inspiration, empowerment, insight. They are looking for a better version of life for themselves tomorrow than they have today.

That’s what a media platform is about. It’s a strategically designed device to help people get the things they want. They win, you win.

If you resonate with this path but have been waiting until you “have more time” to get going, understand that’s backwards.

You don’t wait until you have time. You do this FIRST because it will fuel your future success more than anything I can think of. It will actually MAKE TIME for you going into the future.
