Never Apologize…

So today is my youngest daughter’s birthday. Her first name is Ever. Her middle name is Wild.

Since she named herself, apparently she had a clue what she was going to be like. Here she is with her older sister. I’m a big believer in truth in advertising, so this picture pretty much sums up what we’re dealing with:

Now I’ve read a TON of business books over the years. And I’ve learned a lot. But from nowhere have I received more lessons about business and life than I have from my children. You can read some of them here.

They’ve taught me so much I even wrote a letter back to them in the event they ever need to be reminded of the lessons they come already knowing.

The lesson that Ever reminds me of every day of her life is this one:

Never, EVER apologize for being you.

Improve you. Change you. Reinvent you. Do whatever you need to grow, learn and evolve into the best version of yourself.

But apologizing to the world for WHO YOU ARE at your core is a shortcut to killing what you have to share.

P.S. If you want to read the story, in my wife’s words, of how Ever came into the world in our home, you can find it here. Clicking this link will lead to REAL LIFE. So don’t go if you’re not interested in that.
